River Hill volleyball improved to 2-0 Wednesday night with a three-game sweep at Oakland Mills.
The Hawks ran a spread offense, led by Sydni Horner (6 kills), Keana Richards (5), Kalala Pines (5 kills, 4 blocks) and Emily Luo (4 kills).
It was only River Hill's second match of the season, heading into a battle with 4A powerhouse Howard on Thursday.
"We've just got to come together," said coach Lynn Paynter. "I like the enthusiasm on the team."
A much improved Oakland Mills team was led on offense by Sam Slebodnik and by Raven Blount on defense.
"We're looking good," first year coach Shelby Rhodes said.
