Howard County police are offering up to $1,000 as a reward in their search for a white Honda Accord involved in a hit-and-run on Halloween that injured a 64-year-old man in Elkridge.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn said, officers were called to the 8000 block of Green Tree Court where two witnesses reported an Elkridge man had been struck by a two-door Honda Accord.
Residents told officers that the driver parked in the court and stayed in the car, while a child got out and began trick or treating alone. Observers said the car then sped through the area to pick up the child, as residents urged the driver to slow down.
Once the child was back in the car, the driver sped off and hit a pedestrian, police said, which knocked the driver's-side mirror off the car. The man was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he was treated and released.
While there was no description of the driver, witnesses told police there was a black female in the passenger's seat, who was in her early 20s and wearing a New York Yankees baseball hat with the "NY" logo. No tag number was provided, police said.
Anyone with information on the hit-and-run can contact the police department at 410-313-3200.
