Parkville man sentenced to 34 years in massage parlor heist

A Parkville man has been sentenced to 34 years in prison for the robbery of an Elkridge massage parlor in 2013.

Antoine M. Dyson, 33, of the 6800 block of Sturbridge Drive, was sentenced Feb. 12 on three counts of robbery and additional charges. Dyson was convicted in October.

During Dyson's trial, Dyson's co-defendant, Andre Julius Hairston, testified that he drove Dyson to Oriental Spa, located in the 6300 block of Washington Boulevard, on Sept. 3, 2013, and waited while he went inside for a massage, according to State's Attorney spokesman Wayne Kirwan.

Hairston stated that Dyson decided to rob the parlor, unbeknown to Hairston, Kirwan said.

Surveillance footage, however, revealed that both Hairston and Dyson entered the parlor and that Hairston exited carrying a cash box taken from the parlor's business office, according to Kirwan.

At sentencing, Dyson's attorney argued that the robbery was motivated by a drug addiction, but that he has made progress since being incarcerated, Kirwan said.

Last March, Hairston pleaded guilty to the robbery and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
