Members of the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue were called to an auto parts business in Clarksville at noon on June 6 after a fire was reported.
According to the HCDFRS, about 30 units and 70 personnel went to the scene in the 12000 block of Hall Shop Road and found vehicles, tires, waste fuel and flammable gas containers on fire. The blaze was controlled in about 30 minutes and firefighters began extended overhaul operations.
Shortly after, the HCDFRS said, the Maryland Department of the Environment went to the business to help contain hazardous runoff from the waste oil burned in the fire. There were no injuries reported and the extent of the damage is undetermined. No occupants were displaced.
The Howard County Fire Investigation Division is investigating the origin and cause of the fire, the HCDFRS said.
