The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently awarded the Howard County Public School System a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the school system announced last week.
The school system received the award for its annual financial report. It is the ninth consecutive year the system has received the award from the nonprofit organization.
According to news release from the school system, the certificate of achievement is the "highest honor conferred in the area of government accounting and financial reporting. To earn the award, a financial report must meet stringent criteria and demonstrate full disclosure in communicating the organization's financial story."
