Police said investigators learned the victim's mother was approached by a man while on the porch at 2:30 a.m. The mother gave the man a cigarette before going inside the house and locking the door, police said.

Based on the description provided by the mother, police were able to identify that man as Jaramillo-Jimenez. Police found the stolen cellphone and laptop while executing a search warrant at his home.

Jaramillo-Jimenez is being held on $175,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
