An Elkridge man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery and attempted carjacking of a woman at an Elkridge gas station earlier this week.
Erik Lee Madison, 28, of the 5700 block of Main Street has been charged with attempted carjacking, attempted kidnapping, first-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery and theft in connection with a Sept. 23 incident.
Madison is accused of threatening a woman with a knife and attempting to steal her car while at a BP gas station located in the 5800 block. of Washington Boulevard, according to Howard County police.
Police said the suspect approached a woman around 8:34 p.m. and asked for money. When she refused, he pulled a knife on her and then ordered her to get into the car, police said. The woman threw her wallet at the suspect and then ran into the gas station to call police, police said.
The suspect picked up the wallet and fled, police said.
The gas station manager told police the suspect description matched Madison, who had approached the manager the day before about being hired to cut the grass around the gas station, according to police.
Police said Madison handed the manager his card that contained contact information of Madison's two brothers.
