Ever tried Mirchi Ka Salan (Hyderabadi curry)? How about some Asaro (yam porridge)? The Columbia Association is hoping you’ll try those dishes and more.
Its new World Food Passport program rewards diners for exploring world cuisine available locally. Diners pick up a World Food Passport and take it to the nearly 40 participating restaurants to be “stamped.” Diners earn ranks based on the number of stamps they accumulate in each of six world region categories. They can then enter quarterly drawings for a $25 gift certificate. The next drawing is June 30.
“You can learn a lot about a culture from its food,” says Laura Smit, program manager for CA’s International Exchange and Multicultural Programs. “We have such a variety in this area.”
