You’d think garden centers quiet down in winter. Not River Hill Garden Center, where January meant remodeling and restocking a new gift shop. It’s the same space but with new fixtures and an emphasis on “shopping small” — buying American, as local as possible.
That can mean as local as Suzanne’s Kitchen pepper jellies from Fulton, Nathan’s Forge metalwork from Westminster or Noontidings nautical items from Easton. Other merchants hail from neighboring states like Fisher’s Caramel Popcorn (Delaware) and Jen Callahan artwork (Virginia).
Customers will still find favorites Vera Bradley and Spartina bags and accessories.
