Ellicott City's Bear Fox Babe offers designer samples at a discount

Update: Bear Fox Babe and other businesses in historic Ellicott City remain closed while flood cleanup efforts continue. Owner Macy Della said Monday she hopes to reopen the store or operate as a pop-up shop. In the meantime, she's working to build an e-commerce component.

Behind the old post office in a corner of historic Ellicott City’s parking lot D, a tin-roofed red cottage named Bear Fox Babe (after two pet dogs and one helpful husband) offers designer-quality women’s samples at prices at least half off suggested retail.
In April, Macy Della, assisted by husband David Della (“Babe”), opened the shop whose variety belies its two tiny rooms.
“I keep the price point as low as I can” on the Bohemian-inspired pieces, says the part-time model, 25.
Hand-sequined tanks, a delicate Ella Moss silk lace maxi dress suitable for a wedding and Brashy Couture T-shirts — proclaiming “For Real,” “Obviously” and “Get in Line” — say it all.
