Friendly Faces Premium, which specializes in black hair, opened a 1,600-square-foot space at the Mall in Columbia in November. This is the fourth iteration of Friendly Faces Barbershop Health & Beauty Salons & Spas, which has locations in the Washington, D.C., suburbs.

The Columbia location features 13 styling chairs and offers cuts, facials, coloring, styling, hair weaves and a stylist specializing in natural hair.

From the time the readers’ poll launches in August to the issue’s delivery in December, businesses, nonprofits and readers alike are abuzz in anticipation of who might take home the coveted Best of Howard County title.

Pierre stressed that all hair types are welcome. “We know our hair and everyone else’s as well,” she says.
