Howard Countians planning to venture abroad have a new place to prepare for their travels: the post office located at 6801 Oak Lane in Columbia now offers passports, the U.S. Postal Service announced this week.

Passport service is offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, except for federal holidays.

Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted, according to a press release announcing the opening.

The Oak Lane post office joins several locations in the county offering passport service. Other locations with passport service include Simpsonville, Fulton (on Scaggsville Road), Ellicott City (on Ellicott Center Drive), Glenwood (on Route 97) and Annapolis Junction (on Guilford Road). Several Howard County library locations also offer the service.
