Top players: Seniors Brett Bowie (F), Dylan DeLaRosa (G) and Steven Jordan (G).

What you need to know: There's been a significant amount of turnover for the Wildecats, who graduated all-county caliber guards Devon Groves (18.4 points a game) and Khari Jackson (14.2), along with one of the county's top rebounders in D'Angelo Jackson (7.9 rebounds a game).

That means that a number of new faces are going to be thrust into big time roles and asked to pick things up quickly. The good news, according to coach Deon Wingfield, is that the team's backcourt play in the early going is shaping up to be a strength.

"We are loaded with guards and we are hoping that we can be an uptempo team," he said.

DeLaRosa is a transfer in from Oakland Mills who saw consistent time off the bench a season ago for the Scorpions. His two best scoring efforts were eight points against Hammond and six against Wilde Lake. Wingfield says he's ready to take his game to the next level.

"I think that Dylan will have a breakout season," Wingfield said. "He comes to Wilde Lake with a lot of poise and toughness that we will need in order to compete in the county this year."

The other two captains are Bowie and Jordan, who are both returners that saw time off the bench a season ago. Bowie is a swing man that can do a little bit of everything, while Jordan is one of the team's better defensive players and showcased his scoring abilities last winter with a 14-point effort against Glenelg.
