Atholton, Oakland Mills girls basketball advance to regional finals

Two Howard County girls basketball teams kept their dreams of a state title alive with playoff wins on Saturday.

Atholton, a 55-23 winner over Glenelg, will travel to Baltimore Poly at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Poly, which knocked Mt. Hebron out of the playoffs on Saturday, ended Atholton's season last winter in double overtime of the regional championship.

A: Mitchell 14, Mayhew 12, Burmester 8, Vanegas 7, Hart 4, Jones 4, Harrison 3, Simons 2, Hinson 1.

G: Wolfrey 10, Johnson 6, Callahan 2, Hanlon 2, Price 2, Mattis 1.

Half: A 28-9

Oakland Mills, a 65-43 winner over Calvert, will now host Largo at 5 p.m.

The Scorpions featured three double-digit scorers, as Tori Diggs dropped 22 points, followed by Theda Jackson (19) and Ny'jayah Lockwood (16).
