The 2014 MPSSAA baseball regional playoff brackets have been announced, and Howard County appears to have plenty of horses with a shot at a state tournament berth.

Atholton, which recently won the county championship, earned the top seed in the 3A East Section II, while Marriotts Ridge earned the pole position in the 2A South Section I.

Wilde Lake, which finished the regular season 3-15, benefited from a random draw to earn the No. 3 seed, and a first-round bye, but the Wildecats have to travel to Reservoir on Monday at 4:15.

In the 4A North Section II, Howard County's lone representative, Howard, also received a No. 3 seed and will visit Sherwood on Monday at 4 p.m.

The most compelling game of the opening round looks to be River Hill at Glenelg on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
