Historical society invites you to bring a keepsake

The Savage Historical Society will meet on March 16, at 7 p.m., and this month's topic is Treasures One and All. Everyone attending can bring an item that has meaning to them to share. Tell everyone why it has meaning and where it was from.

If you live in Savage, it would be wonderful if the item was connected to the Savage community. Also, there will be talk about the new book that is coming out about Savage. It is called a "Trip Down Memory Lane." The book will be available to buy at the Savage Fest on June 6. You can reserve your copy now.

The MultiService Center will hold a Job Fair at the North Laurel Community Center on March 24 starting at 9 a.m. and running till 1 p.m. There will be many businesses looking to hire on the spot and a large variety of jobs. Registration is encouraged.

Last call to collect money for Bollman Bridge's Pennies for Patients fundraiser to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the month of February. Donations can also be made online at mdc.sy.llsevent.org/BollmanBridgeElementarySchool.

Gorman Crossing is also collecting for Pennies for Patients till March 6. Please consider helping students learn how to help others in need.

The Howard County Department of Health is offering Free and Confidential HIV Screening on March 3, noon to 3 p.m., at the Health Department's offices in the North Laurel Community Center's far left entrance. Call 410-313-7500 for more information.

Building a Fit Brain will be offered throughout the county for seniors and will be in our area at the North Laurel Community Center on March 12 at 10 a.m. Majid Fotuhi of the NeurExpand Brain Center will explain the Role of Stress and Mindfulness. Register at 410-313-0380.

Starting March 5, Live Racing at Laurel Race Track will be Thursdays through Sundays throughout the month of March. There is racing this weekend as well. On March 14 is the ninth annual St. Paddy's Buffet and Pig Roast as well. The food is excellent and the horses are amazing to watch.

Scouting for Food will be out in the community on March 14. Scouts will collect donations to go to a local food banks. A bag will be left at your door a few days before. Place nonperishable food in the bag and set it by your mailbox or on your front step for them to collect by 8 a.m. to morning.
