To develop independent thinkers, pull the plug on computers [Letter]

It may be that those who devised the Common Core system of education intend to develop "independent thinkers." I wonder if they are, even inadvertently, teaching children that all truth is to be found on the computer, and anything they cannot find there is irrelevant or nonexistent. I know college graduates who cannot read a map, decipher the index of a book or calculate the area of a circle, because they have been taught to go to the Internet for everything. Take away their computers and they are helpless. Worse, take away their computers, and they are ignorant.
