Merriweather Post again an uncivil neighbor [Letter]

Several years ago I complained about the illegal and downright uncivil neighbor who hosted dozens of loud parties every summer, Merriweather Post Pavilion. Things seemed to get better for a while, but once again it's "All about the bass" (and the percussion) and although I haven't done the decibel-related medical research of last week's authors, my own app from half amile away and the vibration of my windows and the phone calls from friends in five different villages have given all the evidence I need.

If this were any other business or neighbor, I wouldn't hesitate to call the police, or in this case, walk up to any of the officers surrounding the property.

Three years ago I was told by a police information officer that limited equipment and only a couple of trained officers made monitoring difficult. The fact that large numbers of off-duty officers were employed by Merriweather made things more problematic.

I challenge our new county executive and our legislative representatives to seek enforcement of and expansion of environmental restrictions. And the Flier should independently monitor and report decibel levels.
