Sidewalk riding lowers bicycle risk for kids [Letters]

I am 11-year-old Peter Frazier. With summer approaching and school closing, many kids will start riding their bikes to their friend's house or to the pool. But riding on the road can be dangerous.

It is not allowed that bikers ride on the sidewalk, yet for kids, riding in the road would be very risky. I suggest that kids ride their bike on the sidewalk. Pedestrians are not common, and are easily noticed by people. Kids can be trusted to not crash into people walking on the sidewalk.

Compare this to the many car crashes and collisions every year in Maryland. Putting kids on the street to ride their bike would not be a good choice.
