Unlike some millennials, Columbia homeowners don't care for thumping music [Letter]

I would like to respond to Mr. Goldberg regarding his letter titled "Merriweather thump is heartbeat of Columbia" and the incessant annoying noise we had to endure the weekend of May 30.

Do your friends also live near 95 decibel sounds that keep them from sleeping as your heart literally beats to the beat of the drums and bass guitar?

This one event which lasted three very long days and nights, if you don't count whatever was going on Thursday night, May 28, which rattled our windows is one loud concert too many.

Some of those tens of thousands of people attracted to "our beloved" community bring with them drugs and death from drugs while attending MPP concerts and are not even from Maryland.

Yes, you millennials (or MEllenials) are looking for places to live but the rest of us who like and enjoy music and don't care much for bass-thumping music that can be heard miles from that pavilion are already settled here and have already invested in homes.

I can't believe that your generation only wants to live in Columbia because of Merriweather either unless, like you, they don't wantto pay for their entertainment. That doesn't sound like investing in anything to me.

Science has already proven that sounds, even a cell phone ringing, can increase your heart rate even if the noise remains under 65 decibels.

The total lack of care from MPP last weekend is another reason why raising their roof and cutting down mature trees is a bad idea. That will only allow more noise to reach more neighborhoods.Dunloggin up by Route 40 might have to put up with noise throughout the summer not just for three days in May.
