The State Highway Administration will begin a $1.9 million construction project on a new exit ramp from northbound Route 29 to westbound Route 175 on Nov. 6 in Columbia.
Officials said the interchange will improve traffic flow and safety at Columbia Pike and Little Patuxent Parkway, where about 116,000 drivers travel every day. The project should be completed by spring 2018 after which the current ramp will close.
In addition to the new ramp, Fallston contractor Allan Myers will also add a traffic signal to the intersection, improve drainage and resurface the existing ramp. During construction, crews will work behind a temporary barrier wall to limit delays.
Drivers are asked to slow down and stay alert when driving in the construction zone. More information is available by contacting SHA’s District 7 office at 301-624-8100 or going to www.md511.org.
