The Columbia Association will link a half-dozen of its facilities into the Inter-County Broadband Network (ICBN), a statewide, publicly funded Internet provider built to improve online speed.
The project, which began in 2011 and involved installing fiber-optic cables throughout the state, was spearheaded by County Executive Ken Ulman and other Howard County elected officials.
The county school system has already linked into the network. Earlier this month, the county announced nTech Solutions, a Columbia-based technology company, is using the network, making it one of the first businesses to do so.
The Columbia Association, a nonprofit that operates many of Columbia's open spaces and amenities, is expected to save money by joining the network, according to officials.
More details about the partnership will be revealed on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Columbia Gym, 6151 Day Long Lane in Clarksville.
