The M&D Lacrosse Club will be holding tryouts for girls lacrosse players for the 2013 season on Oct. 7, 13 and 20. Information can be found at mndlax.com.

The Columbia Association will host its second annual Coalition for a Healthy Maryland Golf Tournament Fri., Oct. 5, at the Fairway Hills Golf Club. The coalition's mission is to promote obesity prevention. The entry fee of $125 (individuals) or $400 (foursomes) includes greens fees and a cart. The tournament is an 18-hole scramble. Registration and breakfast are at 8 a.m. The tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The first Hammond High School Boosters golf tournament is on Oct. 6 from 1-6 p.m. at Fairway Hills Golf Club. Howard County Recreation and Parks is hosting the fourth annual Celebration of Sports Golf Tournament Oct. 5 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course. Prizes include cash, trips, apparel, a car and more. Field hockey

Team registration is now being accepted for the Maryland State Field Hockey Festival, Nov. 17-18 in Westminster. The festival is open to all travel-level school, recreation and club teams. Competition is available in the U-12, U-14, JV, Varsity and Coed 21+ age groups. All teams are guaranteed four 50-minute games with the possibility of playoffs.
