Nightmare Graphics and the Turf Valley Towne Square will host the 2nd Annual Turf Valley Trot 10K and Family Fun Walk to benefit the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation on Nov. 23 at the Turf Valley Towne Square Shopping Center. Adults and children of all ages are invited to register.

Participants in the 10K race will traverse the entire 18-hole cart path of the Turf Valley golf course. The cost is $50 and $35 for those ages 9-22 if registered by Nov. 10. The cost is $60 on the day of the event. The Fun Walk costs $20 and children 8 and under are admitted free. All proceeds benefit the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation. Tennis

The Baltimore Tennis Patrons Association is forming fall and winter indoor teams and instructional tennis programs for Howard County boys and girls 4th through 12th grade, and post-beginner through tournament levels.

The programs include travel teams that will represent Howard County in the USA Tennis Junior Indoor Leagues, and instructional programs for less experienced players.

Travel team practices and home matches will be played at the Columbia Athletic Center, and Owen Brown Tennis Club, instructional programs will be conducted at Forty West Racquet Club. The programs are conducted on weekends October through March.

Baseball

The 13U HCYP Raiders baseball program has concluded open tryouts but is still looking for players to fill a few spots. If you missed tryouts and are interested in playing, contact Luis Torroella, 13U travel coordinator, at 13UHCYP@gmail.com.

Soccer

Soccer Association of Columbia isregistering players for the fall 2014/spring 2015 clinic program. The league is open to players ages 4-6. Gender based teams meet for eight weeks each season on Saturday mornings and focus on skills, teamwork and the basics of soccer. Go to sackick.com to register. The SAC Juniors Program is a fun-filled introduction to soccer. SAC offers six, one-hour weekday or weekend sessions for ages 3-4 throughout the year in Howard County. The Thunder SC Juventus U15 boys team is looking for committed and hard working players to add to its roster for the 2014-15 season. This is a NCSL Division 1 team located in Columbia. The team practices three times a week and plays two to three tournaments each season in addition to the regular NCSL league play. The team's coach, Stefan Draganov, played soccer professionally and holds a UEFA "A" coaching license.

Field hockey

Warhawks Club Field Hockey is holding tryouts for its professionally coached, select winter indoor tournament teams on Sept. 14 at GOALS in Catonsville. The club's U14, U16 and U19 teams play in-state and out-of-state national-level tournaments November through February, while also practicing twice a week at the Meadowbrook Athletic Center or GOALS. Tryout cost is $30. The club will also offer a U10 and U12 winter indoor program.

Registration is now open for fall football and cheer for the Columbia Ravens. Plenty of spots are available for participants ages 5-10. Participants ages 5-14 are eligible to register. For more information, visit columbiaravens.com.

Basketball

Tryouts for the Columbia Ravens winter travel basketball teams for boys and girls grades 4-8 will be held  Sept. 4-14. Winter Travel Basketball is grade-based (players try out for the team that corresponds to their school grade as of Sept. 1, 2014).

Go to columbiaravensbasketball.com for tryout information. All prospective players must register to tryout online for no charge prior to attending tryouts.

Prospective players must attend a minimum of one tryout to be considered for a team, however it is recommended that players attend as many of the scheduled tryouts for their grade group as possible.
