University of Maryland women's lacrosse to host Howard County lacrosse day

The University of Maryland's women's lacrosse team will be hosting its annual Howard County lacrosse day on Saturday, March 21 at 10 a.m. prior to the team's game at noon against James Madison. The pregame clinic is exclusive to Howard County Youth Lacrosse League members in grades K-8. To purchase tickets to the clinic/game visit Ter.ps/HCL and use the promo code HCL.

Basketball

Former University of Maryland men's basketball star Juan Dixon will be hosting a co-ed basketball camp for players between the ages of 7-17 at the Supreme Sports Club from June 22-26. Dixon is currently an assistant coach at the University of Maryland and will be one of the instructors for the camp, which will concentrate on the fundamentals of the game in a fun and encouraging environment. Booster Clubs

The Lions' Pride, the Howard High School non-profit booster club, will host its major fundraiser event of the year — a Bull & Oyster Roast — on March 14 from 7:30-11:30 p.m. For more details, visit howardlionspride.org.

The Atholton Athletics Boosters will hold a Raider Luau as their annual Bull Rost fundraiser on April 17, 6:30-11 p.m. at the Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville. Running

Online registration is open for the Howard County Junior Striders spring track programs. There are two programs, one where kids will compete in track meets on the weekend and one where they do not. Programs start in mid-April after Spring Break. Go to bullseyerunning.com/youth/ for more information.

Applications are now being accepted for the Howard County Striders' David Tripp Scholar/Athlete awards. These awards are expected to total $6,000 in 2015 and are merit (not need) based. Only Howard County residents, who are graduating seniors from a high school in Howard County, are eligible. The intention is to recognize both male and female winners, as well as runners-up, provided that there are deserving candidates. The criteria for consideration includes outstanding achievement in the classroom and as a runner in cross country, track and/or road races. Baseball

Registration for AYRA Spring 2015 baseball is open. Leagues are available for players ages 5-18 and the season runs from April 1 to the end of the school year.
