Lacrosse
The Howard High School boys lacrosse program will be hosting a free clinic on Feb. 24 from 4-5:15 p.m. at its stadium field. All players in grades 6-8 are welcome to attend. For further information and to obtain the clinic flyer/waiver, contact coach Creighton at james_creighton@hcpss.org.
Running
Applications are now being accepted for the Howard County Striders' David Tripp Scholar/Athlete awards. These awards are expected to total $6,000 in 2015 and are merit (not need) based. Only Howard County residents, who are graduating seniors from a high school in Howard County, are eligible. The intention is to recognize both male and female winners, as well as runners-up, provided that there are deserving candidates. The criteria for consideration includes outstanding achievement in the classroom and as a runner in cross country, track and/or road races. Special Olympics
Spring sports registration is underway for the Special Olympics of Howard County. Athletes can register for track and field, bocce, cheerleading, equestrian and softball at somdhc.org/athlete-registration-form/
Special Olympics of Howard County will hold its annual Inspiration Walk on Saturday, April 18 at Centennial Park. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The walk will kick off at 9:15. Register at firstgiving.com/somdhc/howard-county-inspiration-walk-2015.
Field Hockey
The Warhawks Field Hockey Club will hold spring season tryouts March 1 and March 8 for players born between 1996 and 2007. Warhawks' club teams play local and national tournaments. Players looking for something a little less intense can sign up for Warhawks' Sunday clinic field hockey. Clinic players practice once a week in small groups. Football
A youth spring indoor tackle football league is forming for players between the ages of 7-15. Players and coaches are invited to have fun in a developmental and competitive environment. Spring practices are held on weekend and weekday evenings beginning in late February or early March. Games begin the first week of April. Volunteer football and cheer head coaches are needed. Basketball

Baseball
Registration for AYRA Spring 2015 baseball is open. Leagues are available for players ages 5-18 and the season runs from April 1 to the end of the school year. AYRA provides a youth baseball program central to the Clarksville, Columbia, Fulton, Maple Lawn, North Laurel, Savage and Simpsonville communities. Visit ayra.com for more details.

Soccer
Registration is underway for the Soccer Association of Columbia spring 2015 clinic season. The league is open to players from ages 4-6. Gender based teams meet for eight weeks on Saturday mornings beginning in April.
SAC is now registering players for the spring 2015 recreation season. The league is open to players from ages 6-14. Teams meet for eight weeks for practices and weekend games beginning in April.
