The 13-14 Savage Eagles were recently crowned as the Howard County Baseball Alliance league champions. The team, led by head coach Donna Wiedorfer and assistant coaches David Quinn and Mark Walters, finished the regular season 9-1. Members of the team are Tony Edelen, Daniel Goodman, Owen Hankins, Larry Lamparter, Mark Niland, Josh Noppenberger, Michael Quinn, John Routzahn, Preston Smith, Tyler Walters, Nicholas Wiedorfer and Jake Williamson.


Mark Eagles won the first Centennial Fun Run of the summer in 5:02, with master runners Karsten Brown and Brian Shadrick finishing second and third. Veteran Fun Run participant Tiffany Lang led the women with a time of 6:12.

Thirteen teams took on the Howard County Striders 5-mile two-person relay at Long Reach High School last week. Each competitor runs 10 laps, alternating turns until five miles are completed. Ross Cockerham and Nathan Drenkow were the male team winners. Terri and Adam Wytko won the co-ed category. Cindy Cohen and Melissa Wallace were the first place female team.

The Howard County Striders/Bullseye Running team competed at the AAU Region III meet over the weekend of June 27-28 at Northeast High in Pasadena. More than 40 individuals qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic National Track and Field meet in early August.

Female Relays: 11-12 4x800 (Megan Boyce, Cassandra Montgomery, Evelyn Ose, Emi Moran); 17-18 4x100 (Faith Taylor, Jamila Brown, Kayla Pindell, Londyn Tyler); 17-18 4x400 (Jamila Brown, Abby Hines, Faith Taylor, Ashley Matus); 17-18 4x800 (Brit Lang, Abby Hines, Carly Albright, Gabby Rayner).
