Top Flight Gymnastics competes in state championship

The Western Howard County Fever 18U "A" showcase team finished in first place out of 10 teams in the USSSA May Day Challenge on May 17. Playing five games in one day, the team went on to win the championship with a 7-4 victory in the finals over the Razorbacks of Pennsylvania. The team, which is coached by Bobby Baxter, features six Howard County high school players: Atholton's Miranda Thompson, Allison Orlosky and Patty Drumheller, Howard's Steph Yarrish and Lydia Maruschak, and Mt. Hebron's Julia Miller.

The women's Top Flight Gymnastics level 4 team competed in the Maryland State Championships on April 25.

Forty-eight runners battled the humidity to run the Howard County Striders final spring weekly race at Burleigh Manor middle school on May 17. Ethan Carpenter and Tracy Ringel were the two-mile winners. Karsten Brown and Terri Wytko led the five-mile run.
