Howard hospital to hold family health and wellness fair

Howard County General Hospital will hold a free Family Health and Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, in the parking lot of the Medical Pavilion at Howard County, which is adjacent to the hospital at 10710 Charter Drive in Columbia.

The health fair will offer free health screenings and exhibits, health seminars, local entertainment and free food and drinks.

Health screenings will include coverage of vision, glaucoma, asthma, skin cancer, hypertension, diabetes and joints, according to a news release. Hospital physicians will provide information about obstetrics, gynecology, cardiology, pediatric dentistry, gastroenterology, orthopedics, pain management, psychiatry and urology.

In addition, Johns Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacy and local nonprofit organizations will provide information about accessing community and health resources as well as interactive activities, including Cardiovascular Specialists of Central Maryland's walk-through heart exhibit.

At noon, hospital President and CEO Vic Broccolino will celebrate the hospital's 40th anniversary during a ceremony.
