Howard County police arrested a 23-year-old Columbia man in connection to three residential burglaries early Wednesday morning in Ellicott City.
Taylor Scott Marvenko was charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, trespassing and three counts of malicious destruction of property.
According to police, officers were called to a home in the 8300 block of Montgomery Road in Ellicott City around 4:43 a.m. for a report of property destruction. When they arrived, police learned that a man, later identified as Marvenko, had wrapped his hand in a T-shirt and hit a glass door. After kicking the door and shattering the glass, he then ran away. Police later found and arrested Marvenko.
Police were able to link Marvenko to two other burglaries in the 5900 block of Talbot Drive. At 5:41 a.m., police said, a resident heard a noise from downstairs and went to investigate when they saw a man run out the back door. Four minutes later, another resident reported a man attempted to enter their home by kicking in the front door, breaking the door frame. No entry was made and the man ran away.
