Early voting results favor Watson

Early voting results show Democract Courtney Watson with a lead over Republican Allan Kittleman in the race for Howard County Executive.

With early voting tallies posted at 8:48 p.m., Watson had received 55.1 percent of the votes, 11,605, while Kittleman received 44.8 percent, or 9,438 votes.

More than 21,000 Howard Countians — 10 percent of registered voters — cast a ballot during the week-long early voting period which ended Oct. 30.

In the race for the Howard County Board of Education, Sandra French garnered the highest total of early votes with 9,721. Cindy Vaillancourt is second with 9,561 votes, Bess Altwerger is third with 8,274 votes and Christine O'Connor is fourth with 7,426 votes.

Dan Furman has received 6,770 votes, Zaneb Beams has 6,598, Allen Dyer has 5,403 and Mike Smith has 5,071.

In the County Council District 1 race, Democrat Jon Weinstein received 2,616 votes, 53.6 percent, and Republican Kevin Forrest Schmidt received 2,262 votes, 46.3 percent.
