Gunmen rob Columbia KFC [Crime Log]

The following is compiled from police reports. Descriptions of perpetrators are included only when the description makes identification possible.

East Columbia


Minstrel Way, 7100 block, 9:46 p.m. Oct. 4. Two men entered KFC with faces covered. Displayed hand gun and demanded money. Employee complied. No one injured.

Thunder Hill Road, 5000 block, between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3. Entry gained to residence by breaking window screen. Cash and video game equipment stolen.

Ivory Road, 3600 block, 2:40 p.m. Sept. 30. Man arrived at home in red pick up truck and advised victim he was paving company and victim needed new driveway. Man walked victim to another part of property. Man fled location. Later discovered jewelry missing from residence.

West Columbia

Mystic Court, 5400 block, between 3:30 and 11:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Entry gained to residence by opening window. Electronics, jewelry and personal documents stolen.

Green Meadow Drive, 12200 block, 9:58 p.m. Oct. 2. Victim was approached by three men with faces partially covered. Men assaulted victim and took his cellphone. Victim received minor injuries.

Harpers Farm Road, 5400 block, 10:41 a.m. Oct. 1. Police responded for reporting of breaking and entering. Man attempting to break into apartment. No entry gained. Door damaged. Jonathan Mengisteab, 25, of Norfolk, Va., charged with fourth-degree burglary, attempted fourth-degree burglary and destruction of property.

Windstream Drive and Green Mountain Circle, 3:37 p.m. Sept. 30. Two juveniles walking when they saw man exposing himself. Victims screamed and man drove off.
