Columbia spray-painting vandal hits 150 cars in one month

Howard County police are searching for a spray-painting vandal who has tagged more than 150 cars in a one-month span, police said Friday.

The vandalism dates back to Dec. 15, and stems from seven incidents spread across Columbia. The incidents are listed below:

  • Dec. 15 in the 7500 block of Monarch Mills Way
  • Dec. 20 in the 9600 block of Whiteacre Rd./5800 block of Thunder Hill Road.
  • Dec. 21 in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road. 
  • Dec. 27 in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road. 
  • Dec. 31 in the 5500 block of Waterloo Road. 
  • Dec. 31 in the 8300 block of Tamar Drive. 
  • Jan. 14 in the 7500 block of Murray Hill Road. 

Police said the vandal spray paints "Jack Boys" or the letters "HS" on the cars, or other random markings. Police do not believe they are gang-related or hate crimes.

Police have released photos of the vandalism and are offering a reward of up to $750 for information.
