Business employees are ditching their cars and grabbing their bicycles across the area for Bike to Work Day May 20.
In Columbia, Howard County's Office of Transportation and Howard Commuter Solutions will sponsor a kick-off Friday from 7-9 a.m. at Whole Foods Market on Little Patuxent Parkway. Commuters on their bikes can stop by for refreshments, giveaways and biking information. This is the county's ninth annual Bike to Work Day.
The BWI Business Partnership's Bike To Work Day also kicks off at 7 a.m. Friday.
Promoting safety and benefits of a cycling commute, the Anne Arundel County transportation management association has organized three meeting locations, including Café Joe in Annapolis Junction, Arundel Mills near Best Buy and Baltimore Coffee & Tea in Odenton.
Downtown Columbia, Race Pace Bicycles and Columbia Association are among the regional sponsors, according to information from the partnership.
