Three Columbia teens have been arrested in connection with a series of street robberies and burglaries in Long Reach this month, according to Howard County Police, which also said more arrests and charges are expected.

Milton M. Montgomery, 18, of the 8700 of block Hayshed Lane, Columbia, was charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of theft, according to police. Two 15-year-old boys, also from Columbia, were arrested and charged with robbery, assault and theft, police said.

Police did not release the identies of the 15-year-olds.

The three teens are charged in a July 6 street robbery committed near Long Reach High School. The robbery was the first in a series of three robberies committed by a band of seven to 10 males that occurred in the area during a five-day span, leading police to believe they are linked.

Montgomery and one of the teens, along with a fourth teen -- also a 15-year-old from Columbia -- face charges in connection with multiple Columbia burglaries, which took place on Airybrink Lane, Tamebird Court, Cobblefield Drive and Cloudleap Court.

Montgomery is being held in the Howard County Detention Center on $40,000 bond, while the three juveniles were released to their guardians.

At 11:39 p.m. on July 6, police went to the 6100 block Old Dobbin Lane because of a report of a robbery. According to police, two victims were assaulted and robbed while walking across a parking lot on Old Dobbin Lane near Long Reach High School.

Police said the two were encircled by a group of eight to 10 males, one of whom was on a BMX bicycle. One of the males punched one of the victims, leading the victims to flee and the males to pursue, police said. As they were fleeing, one of the men tripped, police said. The fallen man was punched and robbed of his wallet, police said.

Police discovered the victim's stolen credit card was used at a nearby gas station the day after the robbery. Police said surveillance video of the gas station showed a group of five young men who fit the description of the July 6 robbers.

Through the investigation, police identified the suspects and arrested them.
