A Columbia man, who police say grabbed and attempted to kiss a female student at Hammond High School before fleeing, was arrested and faces several charges, the Howard County Police Department said Monday.
Colby Christopher Johnson, 20, is charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree sex offense and disturbing school operations, police said.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. March 12, Howard police responded to Hammond High after a report of an unknown man entering the Columbia school, approaching a 14-year-old female student, and grabbing and attempting to her kiss before fleeing, police said.
The student was not physically injured.
Johnson was identified as a suspect through police investigation, including reviewing school video feed. It was determined Johnson had no “legitimate business at the school,” police said.
Johnson is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
