Police offer reward for information on Sunday shooting at Wilde Lake Village Center in Columbia

Howard County police are offering a reward up to $5,000 for information on a Sunday shooting in Columbia. Three people were injured during the incident in Columbia’s Wilde Lake Village Center.

At approximately 3:06 p.m., Sunday, police responded to the 5300 block of Village Center Drive for a report of shots fired. Police located a 43-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. The woman’s 4-year-old child also suffered an injury from a suspected bullet fragment. Both were treated at and released from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

Police said they have determined the woman and child “happened to be in the area at the time of the shooting” and neither were involved in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, but police believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation among several people including another victim, Tony Blunt, Jr., 19, of Columbia, who walked into Howard County General Hospital Sunday with a gunshot wound Sunday. Blunt was transferred to Shock Trauma, where he was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon, according to police.

Police said they do not have a motive and they continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-313-7867 or HCPDCrimeTips@howardcountymd.gov, and may remain anonymous.
