Firefighters rescued a person from an overturned car in a Columbia pond Wednesday, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services said.
Few details were immediately available regarding how the car ended up in the pond at about 4:45 p.m. near Rt. 100 and Executive Park Drive, but the department said the driver was brought to shore and was being evaluated by medics.
The driver's identity and condition were not released. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The fire department warned of traffic in the area on New Year's Eve as rescue workers and a towing company removed the car from the pond.
