Atholton field hockey gets share of Howard County title

After three postponements, Atholton and Long Reach finally got to play their game Monday afternoon. Atholton's 16-0 victory gave the Raiders a 10-1 league record and a share of the Howard County title.

Marriotts Ridge and Glenelg also finished 10-1.

"Kudos to Glenelg and Marriotts Ridge. It's nice to have such competitiveness in the county," Atholton coach Martie Dyer said.

In 1995, the Raiders shared their only other county title in field hockey with Centennial.

Atholton has been a high-scoring team this fall. The Raiders have scored in double digits in five games and have totaled 98 goals during the regular season.

Jen Bleakney (seven goals) and Katie Fales (five) led the team against Long Reach.

Long Reach goalie Alina Milauskas made 24 saves.

"I thought she did a great job," Dyer said.
