27-year-old Ellicott City man killed in Howard County car crash Wednesday

A 27-year-old man was killed in an Ellicott City car accident Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Howard County police said in a news release Wednesday night that around 2:15 p.m., Sadiq Abdul-Wahhab was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on North Ridge Road before Ellicott Hills Boulevard when he crossed the double yellow line for unknown reasons and struck a 2014 BMW 535i traveling westbound.

Police said Abdul-Wahhab, of Ellicott City, was transported to Howard County General Hospital where he died.

The driver and sole occupant of the BMW, 41-year-old Chaitanya Karri, of Ellicott City, was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where she is in stable condition, police said.

The road was closed for about three hours as police investigated the crash. The cause is still under investigation, police said.
