Police charge Randallstown man with attempted murder of Columbia man

Howard County Police have charged a 38-year-old Randallstown man with attempted murder in a non-fatal shooting in Columbia early on March 5, the department said Wednesday.

According to a news release, at about 12:30 a.m., March 5, police responded to the area of Governor Warfield Parkway and Chestnut Park Lane for a report of shots fired. Police found a man in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Through investigation, police learned that the suspect and the victim, 55, were involved in an altercation earlier that night at the victim’s Columbia home. The suspect is alleged to have shot the victim while the victim’s vehicle was stopped on the side of the road.

Police charged the Randallstown man, who is being held without bail at the Howard County Detention Center, with attempted first- and second-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and related weapon violations.
