Youth basketball

Registration is open for the Elkridge Youth Organization's winter basketball league. The co-ed program is for players ages 5-18. All games are played at Elkridge-area schools. There are no tryouts, and everyone is given substantial playing time. Registration ends Thursday, Oct. 31. Basket Bingo

The Church of the Resurrection Youth Ministry sponsors a bingo event Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3175 Paulskirk Drive. Doors open at 6 p.m., games start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Information: 410-623-0016.

English conversation The Miller branch of the Howard County Public Library, 9421 Frederick Road, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club," a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting. Ellicott City Senior Center

Qigong Jessica Koch leads students in a class that consists of a series of gentle movements synchronized with breathing that promotes energy movement through the body. The class runs through Dec. 20.

Ask the Pharmacist Don Hamilton, a consultant pharmacist, will provide the newest updates and information concerning your medications at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28. Bring questions, drug lists or prescription containers for discussion.

Gentle Beginning Yoga An introductory class for the beginner who wants to build strength through yoga stretches will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Nov. 4. Cost is $64 for 12 classes.

Gold Strength Classes designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and improve balance will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Nov. 5. Cost is $69 for 13 classes.

Zumba Gold Classes will be held at 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Nov. 4. Cost is $64 for 12 classes.

Piano lessons Diane Waslick teaches a half-hour session Mondays through Fridays. Cost is $30.

Blood pressure screenings Stop in from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays for free blood pressure readings by a registered nurse. Information: 410-313-1425.
