North Laurel man arrested in alleged assault, false imprisonment

A North Laurel man accused of assaulting, imprisoning and threatening to kill a woman in his home was arrested on Main Street in Laurel by Howard County police Thursday afternoon.

Taylor King Pepe, 19, of the 8300 block of Sand Cherry Lane in Laurel, was arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a woman, who police did not identify.

According to the release, police were called around 3:45 a.m. Thursday to Howard County General Hospital, where the victim reported to detectives that Pepe had assaulted her inside his home.

Police said detectives believe that during the assault, Pepe, who has in his possession an assault rifle-style weapon, threatened to kill the victim and ordered her not to leave the house.

Pepe did not have the assault rifle on his person when arrested, police said.

The victim, who police said had injuries to her face and body, resides elsewhere and was visiting the house.

The victim was able to escape, contact a friend and make her way to the hospital, police said. A police tactical team served a search warrant at Pepe’s residence earlier on Thursday, but no one was home at the time.

Police arrested Pepe at 2:45 p.m. on Main Street in Laurel.
