The Howard County Genealogical Society offers a free help desk at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Howard County Library's Miller branch, 9421 Frederick Road. Help is available for research in all areas of the U.S., Europe and other countries. Information: 410-480-3250.

Blood pressure screenings Stop in from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at the Ellicott City Senior Center, 9401 Frederick Road, for free blood pressure readings by a registered nurse. Information: 410-313-1425.

English conversation The Miller branch of the Howard County Public Library, 9421 Frederick Road, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club," a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting.
