Blood donations

The Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region of the American Red Cross is requesting blood donations. Eligible donors can call 800-GIVE-LIFE to schedule an appointment. Platelet donors should call 800-272-2123.

Healthy aging: The county Department on Aging will offer a six-week program from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the East Columbia Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia. Classes begin July 28 and continue through Sept. 1. The program is designed to improve the quality of life for older adults and those with disabilities. Cost $28. Information: 410-313-5980.

Spiritual reflections: Bon Secours Spiritual Center will offer spiritual enrichment programs at 1525 Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville. Information: bonsecoursspiritualcenter.org. Registration: 410-442-1320.

Health education programs: Howard County General Hospital will offer the following programs at the Medical Pavilion, 10710 Charter Drive, Suite 100, Columbia. Information: 410-964-9100 or register online at http://www.hcgh.org.

Adult/child/infant CPR course. Earn a two-year American Heart Association completion card from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 26, Cost: $48. This is not a health care provider course.
