63-year-old motorcyclist killed in Jessup crash with SUV

A 63-year-old motorcyclist died after striking an SUV in Jessup Wednesday afternoon, Howard County police said.

Douglas Lee Gorenflo of Elkridge was riding a 2007 Honda Shadow motorcycle north on Washington Boulevard at Montevideo Road at about 1:35 p.m. when a 2008 GMC Envoy traveling south tried to make a left-hand in front of the bike, police said. The bike struck the right rear door of the SUV.

The Envoy was driven by Jennifer Gaye Sizemore, 43, of Glen Burnie. Sizemore and her passenger, Heather Nichelle Krieger, 21, of Glen Burnie were not injured, police said.

Gorenflo was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the crash was caused in part by the failure to yield right of way and is still under investigation.

Washington Boulevard, at the intersection of Montevideo Road, was closed to all traffic until about 3 p.m.
