Open house
The Laurel Museum holds its traditional open house Friday, Dec. 3 through Dec. 5 at 817 Main St. Open house features holiday cookie tins filled with homemade cookies and children's toys. Also, the Laurel Garden Club will offer hand-decorated wreaths for sale. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5. Information: 301-725-7975.
Holiday teas
The annual holiday teas take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 at Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel, with finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries and a choice of loose-leaf teas. The theme, "Holiday Celebrations Around the World," will be reflected in flavors, decorations and music. Cost is $25 per person in advance. Information: 301-377-7817.
Holiday dinner
A holiday dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 12, at Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Event is a fully catered dinner and includes wine and punch, live entertainment and a holiday sing-along. For ages 12 and older. Cost is $45 per person. Reservations required. Candlelight tours
Tours of Montpelier Mansion take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11 at 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Tours feature music and the results of the creative skills of local garden clubs throughout the house. Local performers entertain each evening. Cost is $45 per person. Reservations required. Fun at the library
A "Picture Book Parade!" for ages 2-5 with an adult will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursdays at the Savage branch of the Howard County Library. The program includes a craft. Pajama Time, when children may wear pajamas and bring teddy bears and blankets, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays. The branch is at 9525 Durness Lane in Laurel. Information: 410-880-5980.
