Film series

Marvelous Movies film series continues with "Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Slayton House Theatre, 10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia. Film critic Mike Giuliano introduces the film and leads a short discussion afterward. Dessert and coffee will be  offered. Admission is $7, $6 for seniors and students. Art exhibit

Slayton House Gallery kicks off the fall season with a solo show, "Abstract Work: Collage Paintings," by Robert Tennenbaum. Show runs through Oct. 9 at 10400 Cross Fox Lane and is part of the Howard County Road to the Arts. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays. Information: 410-730-3987 or 301-596-4883.

Around town

Wii club Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks offers a Wii club for those 55 and older from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way. The first game is free. Information: 410-313-7213.
