Youth dance

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department's Junior Firefighters will hold a "Wacky Tacky" dance for youths ages 9-15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the firehouse, 6275 Old Washington Road in Elkridge. Decorator show house

Historic Ellicott City Inc. presents its 26th annual Decorator Show House. Witching Hour Farm, at 15475 Old Frederick Road in Woodbine, was built 100 years ago and named for a previous owner's favorite horse. It is a seven-bedroom home on 80 acres. Show house includes a tour, which features items for sale, a boutique, antique shop and garden shop. Open through Oct. 17. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Wednesdays, Fridays-Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Quilt exhibit

"Stitches in Time/Threads of Change: An Exhibition of Maryland Community Quilts" continues through March 31 at the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum, 300 Oella Ave. The "Banneker Historical Quilt," a project more than five years in the making, is the centerpiece of the exhibit. 'Bark for Life'

Howard County's Relay for Life will hold "Bark for Life," a dog walk to support the American Cancer Society, taking place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 25, at Worthington Park, 8170 Hillsborough Road. Registration is $15 per dog and includes a bandana; deluxe registration is $30 and includes a T-shirt for the owner. Leashes and proof of rabies vaccination are required. 'Roads to Rails: The Thomas Viaduct'

Exhibit, running through Nov. 7 at the B&O Railroad Museum, 2711 Maryland Ave. in Ellicott City, explains how the bridge was built and contains images and pictures of the viaduct in use. Visitors can learn about Phillip Thomas, president of the B&O, for whom the bridge is named, and the engineer, Benjamin Latrobe. The viaduct, which spans the Patapsco River in Relay, was completed July 4, 1835. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays. Information: 410-461-1945.
