Three people were injured and busy Route 108 was closed for over four hours Wednesday, after an early-morning accident that Howard County police said was caused by a car that crossed the center line and hit a trash truck.

Police said a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Jasmine Zellner-Fing, 22, of the 5300 block of Harper's Farm Road in Columbia was traveling eastbound near Centennial lane when it crossed the center line and hit a trash truck head-on. She was transported by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma in serious but stable condition. Guido Maldonado, 45 of Gaithersburg, the truck driver, also went to Shock Trauma but by ambulance and as a precaution. His passenger, Armando Lozano, 22 of Lanham. Was treated for minor injuries at Howard County General Hospital. Both work for Unity Disposal and Recycling of Laurel.

Police closed Route 108 between Ten Mills Road and Centennial Lane due to damage to the roadway.
